Edinburg castle was besieged 26 times, the most of any castle in Great Britain. Is there another castle which was besieged more? What castles were besieged the most, especially those that never surrendered?

At least one web site claims that the Mongols were stopped (at least in part) because they had never before beseiged a stone castle. Apparently they did quite well against wooden castles. Can you provide any evidence to suppport or contradict this claim?

I was taught in school that during seiges, sometimes the bodies of plague victims were catapulted over the walls to afflict the defenders. I wonder if this is a myth. Can anyone cite an example, and cite a reference, where this actually happened?

What castle do you think had the biggest historical impact? For example, can you list a castle that stopped an invasion and saved a country?
